ICMR-Centre for Research, Management and Control of hemoglobinopathie, Chandrapur
The mandate of the proposed Centre is to serve as a leader in research on Hemoglobinopathies in the country and become a Centre of Excellence for Teaching, Innovative Research, Technology Development and translating this for the benefit of the patients. The major objectives of this centre are:
1. To undertake Community Control Programmes in this underserved region.
2. To undertake Basic and Translational Research Programmes that will benefit the local population.
3. To serve as a Teaching and Training Centre for Haemoglobinopathies for the country.
4. To develop Human Resources who could work in different regions of the country where hemoglobinopathies is a major health burden.
5. To support the state and district administrations by confirming diagnosis offering prevention programmes such as Prenatal Diagnosis and New born screening programme for early diagnosis and comprehensive care.
6. To strengthen the capabilities of Govt. Medical Colleges in the region through collaborative research.
